Beyond Yourself is a Canadian-based supplement company that aims to deliver honest, quality products that exceed both gym rats’ and professional athletes’ expectations. They’re not interested in selling magic- their products work combined with your hard work and dedication.

At Supplement Superstore, our supplement experts get many questions regarding the difference between Beyond Yourself’s AMRAP and their Amino IQ. In our supplement review this week, instead of reviewing one product, we want to show you the differences between these two popular Beyond Yourself products and the best-suited applications for each.

With this knowledge, you will be able to decide which product will best help you achieve your fitness goals.

What Is Beyond Yourself AMRAP?

Beyond Yourself’s AMRAP is a BCAA endurance and recovery supplement. AMRAP stands for “as many reps as possible.” It is not a traditional pre-workout formula as it contains no caffeine or other stimulant, though some people do enjoy taking their BCAA supplements before or intra-workout. BCAAs promote muscle endurance as they are absorbed directly into the bloodstream and delivered to the muscles where they fuel muscles. BCAAs also promote muscle recovery, so they’re typically taken even on rest days.

AMRAP’s BCAA ratio is 4:1:1 and contains 8.4 grams of BCAA per serving. AMRAPS’ formula contains both l-carnitine tartrate and magnesium. AMRAP is also gluten and sugar-free and contains zero calories.

Each container of AMRAP has 40 servings and is available in:

  • Blue Freeze
  • Orange Pineapple
  • Lemon Lime
  • Strawberry Kiwi
  • Peach Mango
  • Pomegranate Blueberry
  • Coconut Breeze
  • Red White and Boom

What Is Beyond Yourself Amino IQ?

Beyond Yourself’s Amino IQ is a BCAA supplement that contains the addition of caffeine and other nootropics to promote brain health and laser focus. The combination of endurance promoting BCAAs with focus-encouraging stimulants and nootropics make Amino IQ more of a traditional pre-workout supplement.

Though the BCAAs still promote muscle recovery, this product is best suited for taking in the morning or before your workout. Amino IQ has a BCAA ratio of 3:1:1 and contains six grams of BCAA. Like AMRAP, Amino IQ is gluten and sugar-free and contains no added sugar.

Each container of Amino IQ has 40 servings and features Beyond Yourself’s candy shop flavours. The candy chop flavours are overall more sweet than AMRAP’s formula, and these flavours use stevia to sweeten.

The candy shop flavours include:

  • Watermelon Candy
  • Tangerine Jelly Bean
  • Banana Ice Pop
  • Tangy Peach Ringz
  • Cotton Candy Gumball
  • Red White and Boom
  • Green Gummy Frogs

Amino IQ is a milder pre-workout than some. Each serving contains about 100 mg of caffeine, the same as one cup of coffee. This pre-workout is a great option for those who enjoy the caffeine boost but occasionally experience the jitters or nausea related to consuming too much caffeine.

Why BCAAs?

BCAAs are three essential amino acids that makeup approximately 35% of your muscle mass. Your body cannot directly manufacture these BCAAs, and thus they must be consumed through your diet. Since they are a large portion of your muscle mass, it’s critical that you consume adequate BCAAs in your diet.

Your body receives BCAAs when you consume:

  • Dairy
  • Meat
  • Eggs
  • Fish
  • Some plant sources

Because BCAAs are micronutrients, they are challenging to track. When your goals include weight loss or muscle gain, some people find that including a BCAA supplement is the easiest way to ensure they consume enough BCAAs.

BCAAs are a great addition to your supplement stack, whether you like them on their own in AMRAP or in your pre-workout like Amino IQ.

BCAAs aid in:

  • Lean muscle synthesis
  • Preventing muscle breakdown that naturally happens through working out
  • Promoting fat loss
  • Increasing muscular energy

Many studies indicate the effectiveness of supplementing with BCAAs, especially in those whose goals include:

  • Bulking
  • Increasing lean muscle mass
  • Losing weight

BCAAs are also incredibly helpful to individuals who are eating a calorie deficit or struggling to meet their protein requirements regularly.

When to Use AMRAP

AMRAP is suitable to use any time, morning, night, intra-workout, and on recovery days. It’s strictly a BCAA formula that is mostly about growing that lean muscle mass and helping muscle endurance, which is beneficial anytime.

When to Use Amino IQ

Amino IQ can be used anytime except for before bed. However, its formula is best suited for mornings and pre-workout.

The inclusion of stimulants and nootropics helps:

  • Promote alertness
  • Encourage focus and attention
  • Support cognitive function
  • Increase protein synthesis to build muscle faster
  • Reduces the feeling of muscle fatigue
  • Increases muscular endurance

Which Should I Get: AMRAP or Amino IQ?

If you’re trying to decide between AMRAP or Amino IQ, this question comes down to personal preference. When are you looking to get your boost of BCAAs? Do you need a pre-workout? Are you sensitive to caffeine? All of these questions will help you decide whether AMRAP or Amino IQ is the right supplement for you.
